Effective communication skills help foster cooperation, productivity and teamwork within an organization. While businesses recognize this need, they often fail to provide communication training to improve organizational productivity. Learn, develop and practice essential interpersonal skills that can boost your influence and effectiveness with individuals and groups in a business setting. Understand how to overcome typical barriers to listening strategically, provide constructive feedback, identify strategies for communicating across cultures and generations, and understand how gender differences influence communication. Apply core communication concepts and skills to case studies and your current work-related situations.

Course Objectives

  • Identify and describe key concepts and practices of interpersonal business communication
  • Diagnose the barriers to effective communication and ways to overcome them
  • Provide constructive feedback that invites cooperation and collaboration
  • Understand strategies to communicate more effectively when working within a diverse environment (related to gender, culture and age)
  • Learn various approaches to conflict management and negotiation
  • Identify the effect of goals, norms and roles on team cohesion and dynamics
  • Use communication skills to build participation, trust, cohesion and collaboration in a team
  • Employ content and process observation and facilitation to enhance a team’s effectiveness
