Employee assistance programs (EAPs) were once limited to large organizations with concentrated workforces in one geographic location. EAPs have evolved to accommodate both the needs of geographically diverse workforces and the needs of small and mid-sized employers. As a result, these programs have become widely available. The evolution in service delivery models has caused a shift in staffing from a small number of highly trained EA professionals to a large network of EA network affiliate providers who primarily identify themselves as mental health professionals. Get a high-level overview of contemporary EAPs and the role of their staff members and network affiliate providers. Explore the unique blend of clinical skills and workplace expertise that EA professionals develop, and understand the issue of identifying and intervening in substance abuse issues in the workplace.
