In this workshop, you learn how to distinguish between normal grief symptoms and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). You review the normal grief process, identify levels of bereavement risk, review contemporary grief models and criteria for MDD as defined by the American Psychiatric Association and outlined in the most recent Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM 5). Learn about the Bereavement Exclusion in previous editions of the DSM and changes in the latest version that reflect a shift in assessment and diagnostic classification.
