Whether you are changing careers, just starting out in the field of psychology or substance use, or are a licensed psychotherapist, this workshop helps you explore how to begin integrating your clinical skills into the employee assistance field. Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) have evolved over time to accommodate the needs of all types of organizations as the need to support employees with personal, work and substance use concerns continues to grow. This workshop helps you understand the challenges and benefits of working in an EAP, learn to utilize and strengthen your clinical skills into assessment and referral models, and master the basic skills required to consult with management and other organizational departments.
Learner Outcomes
By the end of this workshop, you should be able to:
- Describe Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), their services and different delivery models
- Understand the role and responsibilities of EAP counselors and consultants
- Identify fundamental requirements, clinical skills and training necessary to competently provide EAP services to employees, managers and the organization
