Broaden your understanding of race-based traumatic stress within a historical and sociocultural context. You study theoretical perspectives, review research and gain an understanding of the clinical implications for PTSD symptoms and alcohol-and drug-related problems. However, the richness of this workshop lies in group discussion that consists of you and the other students providing real-world case examples and experiences. The overall goal of the workshop is to highlight methods that address the impact of racial trauma in a way that is validating and a positive therapeutic experience for the client and clinician.
