The Bay Area is the innovation capital of the world, with Silicon Valley companies from virtually every industry within 50 miles of the campus. Past company site visits have included LinkedIn, SurveyMonkey, Salesforce, RocketSpace and Coffee Meets Bagel, among others. To complement your courses, you'll have the opportunity to visit Bay Area companies and learn about key factors that make the Bay Area the epicenter of cutting-edge entrepreneurship.

Networking Opportunities

Mingle with your fellow international students and Haas degree students to build connections and community. The Haas School of Business sponsors a range of student clubs open to BHGAP students that cater to professional interests within the broad field of business. Student groups at Haas are divided into those for undergraduate-level students or graduate students . In addition, UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business hosts a number of conferences and events that highlight major issues and trends in the field.

Cohort Lunches

At the beginning of the program, attend a welcome lunch-a chance to get to know your fellow students, as well as Haas faculty and staff. You'll also connect with your fellow students during cohort lunches throughout the program-with some lunches featuring guest speakers from Berkeley leadership.

In California, you can drive for a couple of hours in any direction for a completely different setting: mountains, ocean or desert. Here are some of the most iconic locations for a one-day or weekend getaway:

Napa and Sonoma: California wine country features wine tours and exquisite cuisine. Or for the more active, enjoy hiking, bicycling or hot-air ballooning. (45-minute drive)

Santa Cruz: Picturesque beaches and coastal redwood forests make this town the perfect backdrop for one of the best California surfing spots. Santa Cruz is home to several state parks and beaches, as well as a fun-filled Boardwalk. (1.5-hour drive)

San Francisco: You can easily take public transportation to get to San Francisco where you can hop on a streetcar, shop in Union Square, grab fresh seafood at Fisherman's Wharf, take in a baseball game or wander around our many culturally diverse neighborhoods. There are beautiful views to be had from any location. You could ride a bike across the Golden Gate Bridge, have a picnic with your fellow classmates on the beach. The city is known for its diversity and there are so many multicultural areas that are great to visit, wander around and sample new foods.

Tahoe: Located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains between California and Nevada, Tahoe is where the Bay Area goes to ski in the winter and relax by the lake in the summer. Hit the beach, enjoy lake activities, or try your luck at one of the bustling casinos. (3-hour drive)

Monterey: Visit the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium; take in a jazz festival; or bike, hike or walk by the stunning, pristine California waterfront. (2-hour drive)

Los Angeles: If you're interested in visiting Los Angeles, Hollywood or other areas in Southern California and its sunny beaches, that's only an hour-long plane flight away. California has so much to do and enjoy!

Closing Ceremony

To mark the end of your education at Berkeley, attend a closing ceremony at the Haas School of Business to celebrate your achievement. The inspirational and lively event-overlooking the UC Berkeley campus with views of the San Francisco Bay-features a keynote speaker, speeches from fellow classmates, the presentation of your certificates of completion and a farewell reception.
