Meet Student Jennifer Lugris

Jennifer Lugris

Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Visual Arts student Jennifer Lugris has participated in solo and group shows throughout California. Her latest gallery show, California Love, will run from Feb. 7–21, Monday–Thursday (8 am–9:45 pm) and Fridays and Saturdays (8 am–4:30 pm) at our San Francisco Campus at 160 Spear St., 7th floor.

A special reception on Monday, Feb. 8, starts at 6 pm. From 7–8:30 pm, there will be a panel discussion on arts and healing for incarcerated Americans featuring Sharon Siskin, co-director of the Artist as Citizen program; Zoe Mullery, creative writing teacher at San Quentin State Prison; and Carol Newborg, program manager for the San Quentin Prison Arts Projects.

Lawrence Rinder Interview: A Look Inside the New BAMPFA Museum

Created to inspire the imagination and ignite critical dialog through art and film, the UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA) opens its new home to the public in downtown Berkeley on Jan. 31, 2016. Living in the former UC Printing Press at 2155 Center St., the Diller Scofidio + Renfro–designed building features new spaces for galleries, film theaters, a café and study centers, in addition to the existing office building and large skylit exhibition space. Melissa Mizell, Design Studio IV

Melissa Mizell is a principal at Gensler, where she has worked on high-profile projects such as the Terminal 2 redesign at San Francisco International Airport. After graduation from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, she honed her design sensibilities at Knoll International in Tokyo. In addition to her award-winning work, Mizell finds time to teach courses in the Certificate Program in Interior Design and Interior Architecture at UC Berkeley Extension. She recently talked with us about her career, trends in design and what she does to replenish her creativity.

Melissa Mizell, B.A., LEED AP, is a design director and principal at Gensler San Francisco. Her workplace, hospitality and retail projects include the new United Terminal and Terminal 2 at San Francisco International Airport. She is passionate about sharing knowledge and helping to influence the next generation of designers. Mizell serves on the advisory board of the interior design program at UC Berkeley Extension, and has mentored and taught at CCA and the Academy of Art.
