Records

We maintain permanent academic records for UC Berkeley Extension students who have completed credit courses and noncredit courses numbered 800–899, and for students who ask us to record their noncredit continuing education unit (CEU) study.

Requesting a Transcript

Year-End Service Note

To receive transcripts by the end of the calendar year, Extension must receive requests by Dec. 5. Fall term grades are mailed following receipt from instructors. In some instances, grades may not be available prior to the end of the calendar year. Transcript requests for fall grades are held and processed after Extension receives grades from instructors. Please check with your instructor for more specific details on his or her plans to submit this information to the registrar.

Ordering Transcripts

You can order transcripts through the online TranscriptsPlus service, by mail or in person.

When you use the online TranscriptsPlus service, you are asked to fill in contact information and specific transcript request (including a "rush" option). You must pay by credit card to use this service. When ordering transcripts online, you still must send a printed, signed authorization form so that the Registrar's office can release transcripts. During the ordering process, you can either print this form from your computer, or you can receive a printable PDF version of the form through email. You must sign this form and return it to the Registrar's Office at UC Berkeley Extension for the transcript request to be complete. Follow the directions on the TranscriptsPlus site.

UC Berkeley Extension Office Transcript Requests

Please allow 10 business days to process and mail your transcript(s), from the time we receive the request. (During our peak period, Nov.–March, fulfillment may take up to 15 business days.) If you need transcript(s) mailed sooner, you must specify rush service. Rush service ensure that transcript(s) are mailed within one business day after the receipt of the request. All transcripts are sent via First Class U.S. Mail.

Print and fill out the Transcript Request form (PDF). Mail your request with the appropriate payment to the address listed at the bottom of the form. No phone or email orders can be accepted. Or, provide the information outlined in the steps below. Failure to include all required information delays processing of your transcript request.

  1. Provide full name, address and daytime and evening phone numbers. If it is different from your current name, please also provide the name as it appears on Extension records (when were enrolled with us). Providing a Social Security number helps us identify your records and may expedite the request.
  2. If you select "Send now," your request is processed within 10 working days from receipt of payment. If the transcript must reach its destination sooner, specify rush service in the request.
  3. Please note that final grades for recently completed courses may not yet have been submitted and recorded. If you are completing coursework that must appear on your transcript, check "Hold for final grade(s)" and indicate the course title, term and year in which you will have completed that coursework. The transcript is not mailed until those grades have been recorded. No partial transcripts are issued.
  4. Indicate the number of copies requested.
  5. Include a check (payable to UC Regents) or credit card number, expiration date and signature with the request. (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club are accepted.) Please see below for applicable fees.
  6. Provide complete mailing address information, including zip code, for all recipients of the transcript.
  7. Sign the request. No request is honored without the signature of the student whose record is being requested. No electronic signatures can be accepted.

Mail

Complete the online Transcript Request form, print it and mail it with payment to UC Berkeley Extension, Registrar’s Office – Department B, 1995 University Ave., Suite 110, Berkeley, CA 94704-7000. Make checks payable to UC Regents. Students may also pay with MasterCard, VISA, Discover or American Express. Please provide account number and expiration date.

Sign the Request

No request is honored without the signature of the student whose record is being requested. Electronic signatures cannot be accepted.

In Person (Rush Pickup)

To request a transcript for same-day pickup, go to the Student Administrative Services Office at 1995 University Ave., Suite 110, Berkeley, CA, between 9 am and 3 pm, Mon.–Fri. You must present your valid, government-issued photo ID when picking up transcripts. If someone else is picking up the transcript, you must provide that person with a written and signed authorization for the transcript to be released; student authorization is retained by Extension. The designee must present a valid, government-issued photo ID.The cost is the price of each transcript requested plus a $15 surcharge.

Next Business Day Service (Rush Mail)

Your transcripts are sent via first class U.S.P.S. mail the next business day after receipt of payment. The cost is the price of each transcript requested plus a $15 surcharge per order.

Partial Transcripts

No partial transcripts are issued. UC Berkeley Extension does not issue in-progress transcripts. You may use either the Enrollment Confirmation or request a Statement of Fees Paid letter to confirm your current enrollment status.

Holds

A hold may be placed on your records and no request for transcript is granted until all outstanding debts to the University are paid in full. A hold may be placed on transcripts for student conduct code violations.

Course Description and Enrollment Verification

Course descriptions are copied from the applicable UC Berkeley Extension catalog. There is a $15 charge for each copy of each course description requested. Past catalogs are available in PDF format.

There is a $15 charge for written verification of a student enrollment or student record provided to a third party. Release of information to a third party requires written authorization from the student.
