Invoice and payment procedures and details

How to Claim Your Referral Fee

Referral fees are paid three times per year: at the end of February, June and September.

Required Documents

  1. Invoice
  2. Foreign Bank Authorization Form (one time only unless your bank information changes)

Please take a moment to verify that all information is complete and correct on the invoice and Foreign Bank Authorization Form. If all is correct and complete, it will typically take 4–6 weeks for the payment to be made.

Invoice Instructions

Please make certain the following information is on each invoice you prepare. It is not necessary to create a separate invoice for each student. The following information is required:

  1. Your name as stated on the agreement, address, email, telephone
  2. Date of invoice
  3. Invoice number
  4. Names of student(s)
  5. Program(s) taken
  6. Amount of representation fee due in U.S. dollars
  7. Contact person’s name and email address if different from above

Foreign Bank Authorization Instructions

All international referral payments will be made by wire transfer. Please complete the foreign bank authorization form with the following information:

  1. Payee information
  2. Bank information
  3. Intermediary bank if required by receiving bank
  4. Check the wire authorization box
  5. Sign the document (e-signature is not acceptable)
  6. Scan and email form to extension-agents@berkeley.edu
  7. You must fill out a new form if your bank account information changes.

Please note that there is a typically a wire transfer fee ($20–25) which will be deducted from your payment.

Earning Commission

Depending on your geographic region, UC Berkeley Extension may offer opportunities to earn commission. If you have a representative agreement with UC Berkeley Extension, any terms and conditions are detailed in the agreement.

If granted, UC Berkeley Extension pays referral compensation by wire transfer after the student is fully enrolled, has paid the fees and is present in class. Processing payment takes four to six weeks after materials are received and verified. For questions on commission, please contact
