Congratulations on completing your application!

The full application review process can take three to four weeks as we review them on a rolling basis, in the order they are received. Only complete applications with all required information are reviewed. Programs may fill before the application deadline, so we recommend submitting all application documents as early as possible.

Monitor your application status in your UC Berkeley Extension online student account; you can view notes about your application and FedEx tracking information. You will be notified by mail regarding your acceptance status and further instructions.

If you are accepted for admission, you will receive a packet with important information about applying for your visa—including your I-20 Certificate of Eligibility form—and information about paying your fees and enrolling in your program. After you have received and read through your acceptance packet carefully, feel free to contact us if you have additional questions.

If you are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States, you must obtain an F-1 student visa in order to attend UC Berkeley Extension International Programs. If you are already in the United States on a visa other an F-1 visa, please contact our international student services office to inquire about eligibility. Non-U.S. citizens entering the country with a visitor visa (B-1, B-2) or under the visa waiver program are not permitted to engage in full-time study.

For more details, visit our visa information page.

After you are accepted, you will receive an invoice via email with instructions on how to pay your fees. In order to reserve your space in the program, you must submit your program fees a minimum of 30 days before the first day of class. Payments must be made directly to UC Berkeley Extension in U.S. dollars. We offer four payment options:

  1. Credit Card

MasterCard, Visa and American Express are accepted. You may also pay fees online using your student account.

  2. Bank Wire Transfers

They must be made in U.S. dollars and sent to:

    Bank of America

    1655 Grant St.

    Concord, CA 94520 USA

    Account number: 0175380001

Account name: UC Regents of the University of California, Berkeley, Extension, International Student Services

    Routing number: 0260-0959-3

    Swift Code: BOFAUS3N

You must scan and email a copy of your wire confirmation receipt to extension-intl@berkeley.edu or fax it to +1-510-643-0216.

All wire fees charged by the bank are the sender's sole responsibility. You are not officially enrolled until we are able to successfully track and identify your wire transfer. The wire-tracking process may take 10–15 business days. No wire transfers will be accepted once the term has begun.

  3. Western Union Business Solutions

Western Union offers a UC Berkeley Extension payment portal, which allows you to pay your account balance, without transactions charges, in the currency of your choice. Bank service fees are often reduced because the transaction is being initiated as a local transfer. Payments received include reference information so that your payment is applied to your student account, typically two to five days after your bank receives the payment.

  4. Bank Draft

Bank drafts must be in U.S. dollars and payable to UC Regents. The draft must be drawn on an account held at a U.S. bank or a U.S. branch of an international bank.

Coming to UC Berkeley Extension from another U.S. school? You'll need to complete a few steps with your current (or former) school to transfer your I-20 Certificate of Eligibility and begin your study with us. Please note that academic credit earned at other institutions is not transferable to UC Berkeley Extension.

If your cancellation is received in writing via mail, fax or email prior to the start of your program, you will receive a refund less a $100 cancellation fee. The $200 application fee is nonrefundable. Requests for refunds after the start of the term will not be granted. If UC Berkeley Extension expects to cancel a program, you will be notified at least 15 days before the scheduled start date and offered alternative study arrangements, if available; otherwise, you will be given a full refund. If your F-1 visa application is denied after you have been accepted into the program, you will receive a full refund of your program fee.
