Berkeley Global
Why Give to UC Berkeley Extension?
UC Berkeley Extension brings the educational resources of the Berkeley campus to the broader community. We offer lifelong opportunities for personal and professional growth, including new career skills tailored to current workplace needs. We also create employee training programs designed to meet the needs of companies and other organizations.
As one of the top university-level continuing-education providers in the country and the world, UC Berkeley Extension offers 1,500 courses each year and logs 35,000 enrollments. We combine the intellectual resources of one of the nation's finest research universities with the frontline expertise of instructors who are practitioners in their fields. Courses and certificate programs are offered in the classroom or online, in subjects ranging from the arts and sciences to business and engineering.
UC Berkeley Extension is completely self-supporting. Because we receive no funding from the University or the State of California, we rely on contributions from individuals and organizations in the communities we serve to help us meet changing educational needs while keeping our course fees affordable and competitive.
How Your Gift Can Help
Gifts and grants help us meet important one-time and extraordinary expenses that can't be covered by our course fees. These include:
- Developing innovative new curricula and educational formats such as our Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical and Pre-Health Professions Programs, which debuted in 2006
- Creating and sustaining effective new public service programs, including professional training for K–12 teachers and workers in social-service occupations
- Renovating aging classroom facilities, replacing outdated equipment, and carrying out building projects that accommodate new programs and technologies
- Keeping course fees affordable to low-income students in selected public-service and K–12 programs
