How do I enroll?

You can enroll at any time. Simply visit the course page you're interested in and click on "Add to Cart." If you're new to UC Berkeley Extension, you'll need to create a student profile. Already have a profile? Simply log in with your student number and password. Once you're logged in, you'll be directed to the checkout where you will need to pay for the course. Instructions will follow on accessing your course.

Are there prerequisites or required background knowledge?

Some courses have recommended prerequisites or prior experience. These are listed on the course page to help you determine your readiness before enrolling.

Can I transfer credits to another school?

Many of our courses are accepted by other schools, but be sure to check with your desired school to ensure they accept these credits.

Will professional and/or graduate schools accept these courses to fulfill prerequisites?

Are there instructors in Start Anytime courses, or are the courses self-guided?

Instructors are present to provide guidance, feedback and grading as you move through the course. They are also accessible via messaging through the learning management platform.

How long do I have to complete a Start Anytime course?

Once enrolled, you will have 180 days to complete all coursework. You can move faster or slower within that timeframe, depending on your schedule. Please note that it may take up to 24 hours to see the course populate in Canvas.

How do I take a proctored exam in a Start Anytime course?

Our asynchronous online courses currently do not require you to take a proctored exam, but many will require an online comprehensive final exam that you must complete at the end of the coursework to receive credit.
