Applied Economics for Business | ECON X402.8
Understand general economic issues, principles and concepts in both microeconomics and macroeconomics. Identify factors that lead to industry profits and economic growth, and apply economic principles to all business segments.
Course Instructors:
Martin Medeiros, M.A., M.A., Extension Honored Instructor, is a professional economist and an instructor at College of Alameda and Holy Names College. Previously, he worked as an economist for Bank of America.
Ashish Sahni has held senior leadership and management positions in higher education for the past 25 years. At UC San Francisco, Ashish served as the director and then interim vice chancellor for student affairs. At UC Santa Cruz, he served as the associate chancellor (chief of staff) in the Chancellor's Office. Most recently, hei worked at UC Berkeley as the executive director for the Berkeley Institute for Data Science (BIDS). In recognition of his staff support, Ashish was also honored by the Council of the University of California Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) with the Administrator of the Year award.

Organization and Management | BUS ADM X490.1
Explore different organizational structures and the new types of dynamic organizational concepts and forms. You will develop decision-making and problem-solving skills, assess your personal management and leadership styles, and create an action plan to improve both.
Course Instructor:
Douglas Doyle, M.B.A., is a C-level marketing executive with more than 30 years of experience in marketing, innovation and new product development at technology startups, as well as in leading new business initiatives at companies including Apple, E*TRADE and Blackberry. He built and led marketing, product and innovation teams based in North America, Europe, China, Japan and Singapore. Doug is a board adviser to AI startups as well as a mentor to founders and teams at impact-focused enterprises seeking to scale in Asia, Europe and Africa.

Accounting Foundations for Business | BUS ADM X421
Learn a variety of management accounting tools that can be used to make important business decisions. Study the basic concepts of financial and managerial accounting, and examine how financial reporting relates to an organization's strategy.
Course Instructors:
Steve Draeger, M.B.A., was the chief financial officer of Kaiser Permanente's IT organization for more than a decade, retiring from that position in July 2022. Steve has more than 30 years of experience in leadership roles in finance, accounting and IT operations. He joined Kaiser Permanente in 2008 as vice president of IT Financial Planning, Analysis & Cost Transparency. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, Steve served as the CFO of Pionetics Corporation, a technology startup. He also previously served as CFO at Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich LLP, and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, two large law firms. Steve also served in domestic and international finance roles with S.C. Johnson, a large consumer products manufacturer, and Kohler Company. Steve earned a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He received an M.B.A. from Marquette University.
Ravi Mallela, M.B.A., spent more than 20 years as a finance executive at large and small, publicly traded financial institutions, including as the CFO of First Hawaiian Bank, a $25 billion-dollar public financial institution; First Republic Bank; and Wells Fargo. Ravi most recently served as the chief financial officer of National Mortgage Insurance Holdings Inc. (“NMIH”), a publicly traded mortgage insurance company, and served on its executive committee. He also is an independent board member of CPI Card Inc. (PMTS) and serves on the company's audit committee. He holds an M.B.A. from UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Marketing Management | BUS ADM X460.1
Gain the foundational knowledge of marketing concepts, terminology and practices. Understand how marketing fits into strategic planning. You will study pricing, product development, placement and promotion, and create a marketing plan.
Course Instructors:
Reginald Duhe, M.A., is a marketing, business development and organizational development professional. He has more than 15 years of corporate experience working in various management roles for industry-leading organizations such as IBM, AT&T and Cisco Systems. He has spent the past 10 years working for and consulting with educational and nonprofit organizations, focusing on increasing resource capacity, market share and brand awareness.
Rinoti Amin is a seasoned professional in digital and growth marketing with extensive experience across various high-profile roles. Currently, she holds the position of vice president of growth at Malwarebytes, where she is responsible for overseeing growth strategies and customer value and retention initiatives, product marketing and content amplification, ensuring that product messaging is effectively communicated and reaches the target audience through innovative campaigns and robust content strategies. Her extensive background also includes a significant tenure at PayPal, where she held various leadership roles including director of digital marketing and director of growth marketing strategy.
Schedule
The Immersive Program in Business Administration is an in-person, semester-based program. Exact schedules are shared with admitted students prior to the semester start. Fall 2025 classes will meet from August 20 to December 19; classes are held on weekdays at either the Golden Bear Center or San Francisco Campus location.
Curriculum Requirements
The curriculum comprises 4 core courses for a total of 8 semester units (120 hours of instruction). To earn your award of completion, you must take all courses for a letter grade and earn a grade of C or better in each course.
How to Apply
Admission Requirements
To participate in this program, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Three (3) years of undergraduate study
- GPA 3.0 or better
- International students must meet English Language Proficiency Requirements.
Tuition and Fees
Tuition: $10,300 (USD) per semester
Fees
- $500 nonrefundable deposit
- $900 health insurance (per semester)

This professional certificate is a full-time, cohort-based program. In order to maintain your visa status, you must attend all scheduled courses and meetings.
