Program Admission, Enrollment and Seat Deposit

To be considered for admission, students must submit a complete application to the program along with a $100 nonrefundable application fee.*

Students offered admission to the program will be required to accept their admission by the deadline stated in their admission letter.

A $500 nonrefundable deposit payment* is required to accept the offer and will be applied toward the total amount due for the program.

Enrollment into the program is on a first-come, first-served basis in the order of admission acceptance. If your acceptance and deposit payment is not received by the deadline or if the program reaches capacity (whichever comes first), your admission will be revoked and your space in the program will be forfeited.

*Sponsored students from partner universities: These fees may be assessed to your financial sponsor. Students and their financial sponsors are subject to all payment policies and deadlines.

Health Insurance Requirement

Health insurance is mandatory if you are participating in any of our full-time visiting-student programs.

International students and those coming from abroad will be enrolled into a comprehensive health insurance plan for the duration of their studies. Learn more about health insurance.

Student Cancellations

All cancellations from the program must be made in writing by the student and are subject to our Program Fees and Refund Policies. (See below.)

Program Fees and Refund Policies

Application Fee: The application fee is nonrefundable.

Deposit: The deposit is nonrefundable, except in exceptional cases under the following circumstances:

  • You are denied a student visa to come to the U.S. to participate in the program. Official proof of denial will be required.
  • The program is full and you choose not to remain on the waitlist.
  • The program is canceled.

Program Fee does not include the health insurance fee, additional course cost(s), housing, course materials, meals or other daily expenses.

A refund of the program fee, minus the deposit, will be issued if you cancel by 5 pm (PT) on the published deadline. If the request is received after 5 pm PT on the deadline date, you will not be eligible for a refund of the program fee. Failure to make payment in no way excludes a student from financial liability.

  • Spring term: November 1

Health Insurance Fee: Health insurance is nonrefundable after the start date of the program or if students have utilized the plan.

Note: If you have any outstanding debts to UC Berkeley Extension, any program-related refunds will be applied first to overdue fees. Any remaining amount will be refunded.
