Topics include the transfer of risk through insurance and reinsurance, the role of government in risk management, the function of financial institutions as arbitrageurs and speculators, and strategies for hedging against market volatility through creative use of financial derivatives. Jonathan Masse

Jonathan Masse, CFA, has been in financial services for nearly three decades. He currently serves as a wealth manager/investment options strategist at Perigon Wealth Management. Previously, he set up his own consulting firm, (MC)^2, and has collaborated on projects with firms listed on the "Top 15 most Influential ETFs," including developing the CBOE Put-write ETF with WisdomTree. From 2007-15, he was the Chief Investment Officer of WaveFront Capital Management, where he collaborated with Burton Malkiel of "Random Walk” fame on the implementation of hedge fund strategies that conveyed the strategies outlined in From Wall Street to the Great Wall best-selling book. From 2000-07, he was Portfolio Manager at Barclays Global Investors (now BlackRock) managing over $30 billion of International equities, with a focus on Emerging Markets, Capital Markets, and ETFs. He began his career as an options floor trader on the CBOE and Pacific Exchanges (1994-2000).

Giovanni Chin-A-Sen is currently the CFO for KaMin Performance Minerals and has over 15 years of experience in financial management and 5 years in engineering. He obtained his Master of Science in Risk and Revenue Management from Columbia University and his MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Giovanni is a Financial Risk Manager (Global Association of Risk Professionals) and a Certified Management Accountant (Institute of Management Accountants). He is known for combining his finance and engineering backgrounds to drive improved financial results.
