Get an introduction from leaders and practitioners in how AI is used in HR practices to determine who sees job openings, who is judged favorably during interviews and who makes it through evaluation filters. From biases in training datasets to ill-considered models, applications of AI in HR can pose serious risks to civil rights. This asynchronous lecture offers employees and employers a deeper understanding of how AI-enabled tools are entering HR; their effects; and appropriate technology, policy and governance strategies to maximize benefits and mitigate harms.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this seminar, you will:
- Gain a basic understanding of AI, including algorithms, inputs, and outputs and risks of bias and unfairness
- Learn why and how AI is employed in HR, including in hiring, recruiting and advancement processes
- Understand ethical concerns for using AI in HR processes
- Get an introduction to oversight mechanisms for companies using AI in HR, including auditing and harm mitigation techniques and evolving policies/regulations
