Gain the ability to assess proposed solutions to determine which solution best fits the business need, identify gaps and shortcomings in solutions, and determine necessary workarounds or changes to the solution. Learn how business analysts assess deployed solutions to see how well they met the original need so that stakeholders can assess the solution's performance and effectiveness. Understand how to engage different stakeholders in discussions of performance metrics. Learn how to create metrics-driven organizations. You examine underlying competencies such as behaviors, knowledge and other characteristics that support the effective performance of business analysis. Gain the training and knowledge necessary to become a Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP®).

Prerequisites:

To succeed in this course, it is recommended that students first complete Business Solution Development and Delivery BUS ADM X448.3 or an equivalent course, or have professional experience in the field of business analysis.

Course Objectives

  • Assess proposed solutions to determine compatibility with stakeholder needs
  • Allocate stakeholder and solution requirements to maximize possible business value
  • Effectively perform an organizational readiness assessment to make effective use of a new solution
  • Determine requirements to transition from the existing solution to the new solution
  • Ensure that a delivered solution meets business needs
  • Evaluate functioning solutions to understand the value they deliver and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Recognize behaviors, characteristics, knowledge and personal qualities that support the practice of business analysis
  • Use analytical thinking and problem solving to generate new ideas, to understand the criteria involved in making a decision, to understand how to benefit an organization, to ensure that solutions address underlying problems and to think systematically
  • Understand the behavioral characteristics of ethics, personal organization and trustworthiness to effectively manage tasks and information, and allow the business analyst to elicit requirements around sensitive issues
  • Recognize the importance of business knowledge in areas of business principles and practices, industries, organizations and solutions
  • Improve oral and written communication skills to effectively express ideas and document elicitation results and requirements
  • Acquire teaching skills to effectively communicate issues and requirements, as well as to ensure that the information is understood and retained
  • Solidify skills in facilitation and negotiation, leadership and influencing, and teamwork

Instructional Types

Live Online
Live Online courses provide an interactive learning experience with scheduled synchronous online sessions held via Zoom video conferencing (Pacific Time). Learn more about the Live Online format.
Online, Start Anytime
Continuous enrollment course begins when you enroll. You have a minimum of 90 days and a maximum of 180 days to complete the course.
Online, Fixed Date
Enroll in this course by its start date and complete it by its specified end date. There are no live sessions, but plenty of opportunities to collaborate with your classmates and instructor.
Classroom
Take classes in-person at one of our buildings or partner locations.

All of our courses are taught in English. If English is not your first language, please use the following test scores as guides in order to be successful:

Nate Crews, PhD, M.S., M.B.A., ACP, CBAP, CSM, CSPO, PMP, has been involved in the management of projects and programs for more than 34 years using systems development life cycle and Agile methodologies. Currently, he is a senior project management and technology consultant for the International Institute for Learning in New York and Corporate Education Group in Boston. He teaches on-site and virtual courses for corporate clients worldwide such as AT&T, Chevron, Citibank, Southern California Edison and Toyota.
