Berkeley Global
Living and working in a diverse, multicultural place such as the Bay Area, we may assume that we are inter-culturally competent, but are we really? In order to teach effectively in today's culturally diverse classroom, it is important for educators to be aware of how their identities and cultural framework shape their teachings.
In this class, you will explore how culture and identity inform the way we view the world, how we express ourselves and how we interact with others. You will investigate how cultural learnings may be expressed in the classroom and other settings, and how you can develop your own intercultural competence and that of your students. While primarily intended for those pursuing the TESOL certificate, this class is also appropriate for anyone who is living or working in a multicultural environment.
Please note: This course was previously called Cross-Cultural Communication.
