Our customizable, online program allows you to tailor your coursework to align with your academic or professional goals. Program Benefits

  • Receive one individualized academic advising session and an advising worksheet where you can create a customized course plan that suits your academic interests and needs.
  • Online course formats:
    • Live Online: Attend live class meetings remotely via webcam. Engage with the course material via lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, collaborative activities and more.
    • Start Anytime: Ongoing, continuous enrollment allows you to complete the course within 90–180 days.
    • Fixed-Date: Access lectures, discussions and other course materials online at any time. With no live class meetings but plenty of opportunities to collaborate with your classmates such as discussion boards and group work, this format offers a blend of flexibility and structure. Stay on track with scheduled start and end dates and assignment due dates.
  • Admission into Seminar on the Graduate Application Process PSYCH 1009.
  • Eligible to receive a Composite Letter of Recommendation. You must complete all 18 semester units for a letter grade, maintain an overall 3.0 minimum GPA and complete the program within three years.
  • No tuition per semester. Only pay course fees for the classes you enroll in for the upcoming semester.

Prerequisites

To apply for this program, you must hold a bachelor's degree or an international equivalent.

Curriculum Requirements

To receive the optional Award of Completion, the following must be met within three years of registering:

  • All admission requirements; see How to Register below.
  • Completion of 18 semester units for a letter grade, earn a grade of C or better in each course and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

How to Register

Begin the application process online by completing the following:

  1. Submit the program application and pay the $250 application fee.
  2. Provide your unofficial transcript from your undergraduate university to extension-counspsych@berkeley.edu. Alternatively, if you are an international student, please attach a digital copy of your World Education Services (WES) evaluation prior to having your evaluation mailed to us. Instructions for mailing to follow. Your official transcript to be requested by the department upon review of admission documentation.
  3. Receive our welcome email (please allow for two weeks after you submit your application).
  4. Receive a 30-minute introductory advising session, a template worksheet to assist with your course selections, enrollment into Seminar on the Graduate Application Process PSYCH 1009 and eligibility to receive a Composite Letter of Recommendation. Please allow 3–5 business days for the program to appear in your student account.

 

Estimated Cost

Each course is priced individually, and you pay the course fee at the time of enrollment. The program has an estimated cost of $6,250 (registration fee and the cost of 18 semester units); course materials are not included in this estimated cost. Course fees are subject to change.

Certificate and Award Request

Once you have completed the program coursework, notify UC Berkeley Extension that you have completed the curriculum and request your Award of Completion via email, extension-counspsych@berkeley.edu. After your records have been reviewed, verified and approved (usually within two to three weeks), your Award of Completion will be mailed to you.
