Richard Samuelson

Richard Samuelson, Ph.D., received his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and his doctorate from UC Berkeley. His graduate research was in the areas of photochemical pericyclic reactions and sesquiterpene total synthesis. He then did postdoctoral research at Syntex on developing diagnostic reagents and at UC San Diego on the synthesis and biological activity of retro-inverso peptides. He has taught general chemistry and organic chemistry courses at UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, Laney College and Diablo Valley College. Dr. Samuelson can be reached at rsamuelson@berkeley.edu.

Sol Puenzo Ph.D.

Sol Puenzo, Ph.D., earned her undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Chemistry at Universidad Nacional de Cordoba. Her graduate research was in the total synthesis of carbopeptoids and chiral ligands of arsine. After moved to California she had the opportunity to research at UC Berkeley. Sol has been teaching General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Chemistry for Health Science courses since 2010. She is a strong advocate for chemistry and science education, career awareness, and community outreach. Preferred hobbies are snowboarding, camping, and learning.

Parnian Lak

Parnian Lak, Ph.D., earned her doctoral degree in Chemistry at the University of Alberta, Canada, where she studied the interaction of antibodies with antigens in microbial diseases. Moving forward as a postdoc researcher and lab manager, she investigated metabolome changes and protein interactions in brain aging, and small molecule colloids in drug discovery, at Linus Pauling Institute in Oregon and University of California San Francisco. She has taught General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Analytical Chemistry courses. Parnian enjoys interacting with students. She also enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time in nature.
