Online, Fixed Date
Enroll in this course by its start date and complete it by its specified end date. There are no live sessions, but plenty of opportunities to collaborate with your classmates and instructor.

Hatem Omar E.

Hatem Omar E., Ph.D., is a science educator with more than 15 years of experience teaching pharmacology, microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, and biochemistry. He earned his Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology from the University of Illinois. He has received several teaching awards and is experienced in online as well as classroom teaching.

He researches the development of antiviral drugs against human viruses, and small molecules as therapeutics for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). He has published many peer-reviewed research articles in the areas of microbiology, immunology, and pharmacology, and has reviewed for journals such as Journal of Infectious Diseases, Journal of Leukocyte Biology, and Molecular Medicine.

Nargis Wardak

Nargis Wardak, Pharm.D., has a doctorate from University of Illinois, Chicago, College of Pharmacy and a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from Loyola University. Dr. Wardak has worked as a pharmacist in various settings such as community, long-term care and consulting, and currently is a clinical pharmacist for a pharmacy benefits manager. She has extensive experience in medication management therapy (MTM), immunization, infusion, case management and the readmission avoidance program (RAP), and provides support in medical rounds and in Care of Older Adults HEDIS measures. In addition to being a clinical pharmacist, she is an adjunct faculty for a community college pharmacy technician program and contributing faculty for the nurse practitioner (NP) program at Adtalem Global Education. Dr. Wardak has served as a treasurer for the Chicago Pharmacist Association and is a member of the Pharmacist Women Networking Association and North Suburban Pharmacists Association.

Ben Sorum

Ben Sorum, M.D.–Ph.D., earned his undergraduate degree in biological anthropology at the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor, and his M.D.–Ph.D. degree from Semmelweis University (Budapest, Hungary). While pursuing these degrees, he focused on functional neurosurgery (electrophysiology) and performed research that focused biophysically on the structure and function of CFTR. Ben's postdoctoral studies focus on utilizing ultrasound as a therapeutic tool. His current research interest is to study the effects of focused ultrasound on ion channels at the single channel/molecule level.
