Study the fundamental concepts of inorganic chemistry, including properties of solutions, kinetics, equilibria, electrochemistry, nuclear chemistry, metals, nonmetals and other topics of interest. This course is aimed at biology, premedical and prehealth students. It is also appropriate for returning students interested in chemistry and for professionals in other disciplines considering a career change to the sciences. It is associated with General Chemistry Laboratory II CHEM X19.1B.

Prerequisites:

It is recommended that students have completed a college-level Chemistry I course for science majors with a C or better.

Instructional Types

Live Online
Live Online courses provide an interactive learning experience with scheduled synchronous online sessions held via Zoom video conferencing (Pacific Time). Learn more about the Live Online format.
Online, Start Anytime
Continuous enrollment course begins when you enroll. You have a minimum of 90 days and a maximum of 180 days to complete the course.
Online, Fixed Date
Enroll in this course by its start date and complete it by its specified end date. There are no live sessions, but plenty of opportunities to collaborate with your classmates and instructor.
Classroom
Take classes in-person at one of our buildings or partner locations.

Parnian Lak

Parnian Lak, Ph.D., earned her doctoral degree in Chemistry at the University of Alberta, Canada, where she studied the interaction of antibodies with antigens in microbial diseases. Moving forward as a postdoc researcher and lab manager, she investigated metabolome changes and protein interactions in brain aging, and small molecule colloids in drug discovery, at Linus Pauling Institute in Oregon and University of California San Francisco. She has taught General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Analytical Chemistry courses. Parnian enjoys interacting with students. She also enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time in nature.
